We all aware David had mighty men who worked with him. They were gifted artisans who built the kingdom of God with mighty acts of valour. They had been given anointing, unction, and capacity from God (Read 2 Samuel 23). They had superhuman and supernormal capacities because of the job they had been assigned to do. They were to work with gold, silver, and bronze which were not primarily physical (Malachi 3:3; 1 Corinthians 3:12). They created and shaped the things of God into beautiful things with the grace of God upon their lives. Can you make a lampstand that burns and shines into the darkness for people to see? Can you give answers to help when they are needed? Can you allow God’s word come on you to create a receptacle where oil can be poured into to give illumination to others?
Israel was a physical manifestation of the things God intended to do spiritually. In the New Testament, we are a Temple being built into a habitable place for the Lord 1 Peter 2:5 – You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Gold represents a place God can inhabit. Silver speaks of our redemption.
His Refining Fire
Your skill will affect how you can change and mould a thing into something useful when the Spirit of God comes on it. Sadly many children of God are like lumps of gold in raw form. Fire is needed to refine them. Most times God bypasses our opinion and puts fire on us Himself, because the workmen do not seem to be doing enough. Many have refused to pass through the fire; they wear fireproof coats and have buffers all around their lives. They actively resist Him. Gold is heated up for shaping – most people never are shaped because they refuse to go through fire! It is not wisdom to avoid fire.
The Mount Sinai fire was raging but Moses walked into it. Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the LORD had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly. And as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him in thunder. The LORD came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. Exodus 19:18-20
God allows us go into fire because He wants to shape us and turn us into what He wants us to be. Sadly, we do not go to God most times and even when we do, we go for the wrong reasons. But we have a God who is more than willing to reach out to us. Exodus 31:5 – “… in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft.” The process of sculpting furniture for the house speaks of your life’s processes which make you habitable. God is not allowing you go through pain for fun. Heat is needed to melt gold and in the molten form, it’s easier to pour into a container and mould. Apart from heating, the gold can also be hammered. Both heating and hammering are painful! You need to go through these to become what God wants you to become.
Do not resist all the methods God is trying to use else you might end up badly. The best thing is to yield quickly to God; Hebrews 10:31 – It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. People go through extra pain when they refuse to fall on the rock. Matthew 21:44 – And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him. Here, at least you have the chance to control your landing. Do not wait instead for the Rock of Ages to fall on you; many of God’s children have been crushed because of this.
Wisdom for Building
The spirit of wisdom is given for a purpose, to build the house of God. Proverbs 24:3 – “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established”. Great skill and perception is required to see, read and interpret God’s plans. This wisdom can only be acquired from God. The church is supposed to be a school where you learn how to live out the ways of God. You can’t only talk theory and do nothing. James 1:22 – But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. All your deeds should further the purpose of God in your life. God’s wisdom shouldn’t be for your personal aggrandizement; you aren’t called to do God’s work for your personal gain. It is to be used only to set up eternal spiritual structures. Without wisdom, a house will not be built (Proverbs 24:3). We must have wisdom to translate instructions from above to actions on the earth.
This time covers everything from preparation to action. Do not play with it because there are seasons when you will not be able to do anything new. You would not be able to leave the battle field to forge new swords! This is why your building and shaping time should not be joked with. But remember, though, that rest is a part of work. Sometimes, all God requires from you is to do nothing even when things appear really bad and you are desperate to act. This is also a form of ‘breaking and moulding’ because it is contrary to what the normal person’s reaction would be.
Shaping and hammering is the job of the craftsman. There are two types of people: those called to hammer and shape, like the preacher as his words go forth; and those at the stage of being shaped, at a stage which is usually painful but necessary. If you agree to stay in the mould, you will do wonders when the day comes. Your willingness to suffer brings hammering and shaping. Jesus’ disciples were willing to die sometimes, for what may appear to us very ridiculous things, and we are to be just like them. Every Christian needs to understand the wisdom of God.
Proverbs 24:3-4 says “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches”.
The Israelites celebrated three feasts as God had commanded them in Exodus 23:14-16 – “Three times in the year you shall keep a feast to me.” The feast of Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles. This was to be a prophetic representation of the things which were to come. The Passover was the first to be celebrated in a year. It was a picture of Jesus’ death which is to cleanse us from all sins. The Pentecost took place fifty days after the feast of Passover. It did not just commence on the day the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples. It had been celebrated nearly 1500 years before then. Jesus died on the day of the Feast of Passover and fifty days later, the disciples received the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.
Acts 2:1-4 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
There is the Feast of Tabernacles. The church of God has forgotten that this feast exists. This has led the church into so many errors. As long as we keep thinking that Pentecost is the fullness of Christianity, it will colour everything we do. It will affect our behaviour and plans. These errors started when people started separating the New Testament from the Old. There are certain things you cannot understand until you read the Old Testament. God did not come up with all these distinctions between the old and new testament, Man did. Every part makes up the Bible.
To be wise, read all the parts of Scripture. Many people think after being baptized in the Holy Spirit, the Christian has nothing else to do. Because of this, many have become complacent. There is so much to do. We must understand that the Christian journey is not a sprint, it is a marathon! You will not be rewarded if you complete only one lap of the race when there are two more to be run. You will be disqualified. This is why Paul said in Philippians 3: 13-14”Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
The Feast of Tabernacles represents the Day of the Lord. It is the third stage of Christianity. We are meant to prepare for it. This is why we have the Holy Spirit. 1 John 2:27 says “but the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything–and is true and is no lie, just as it has taught you–abide in him.”The Holy Spirit has been given to train us and teach us the laws of God until we come into maturity
…And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers; to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. ( Ephesians 4:11-13)
This shows that we are not yet mature. The only way to attain maturity in the kingdom of God is through the wisdom of God. It is not faith that will bring you to maturity. It is not something you claim; you must seek the wisdom of God. May the Lord Jesus grant us Understanding!
